Spryfield was founded around 1770 by Captain William Spry. As of 2016 the population was 11,728 and lays on approx., 10.74 km2 of land. Offering numerous lakes for swimming and non-motorized boats during the summer months. Residential is a blend of single family, multi-family and apartment living.
The Captain William Spry Community Centre contains a library, and meeting rooms available for rental. In addition, there are baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts and skate park. If gardening is a passion, there is a community garden near Thornhill Park. The area offers opportunities for hiking, berry picking and lots of exploring.
Spryfield has schools for all ages including daycares and French immersion. The community services include Halifax Regional Police Community office, fire station. Many nearby amenities include Spryfield Mall, NSLC, grocery stores and a variety of small business and restaurants.
